New face of UTI
UTI gets a new face
On 1 February 2003, Unit Trust of India was split into two (UTI I and UTI II). UTI II is now known as UTI Mutual Fund. On 15 January 2003 the Government of India signed an agreement with SBI, PNB, BOB and LIC to operationalise the Unit Trust of India (Transfer of Undertaking and Repeal) Act 2002. As per the Repeal Act, 22 schemes (US-64 & all assured return schemes) will be transferred and shall vest in an Administrator. UTI AMC Co Ltd. will manage 47 NAV based, SEBI compliant schemes wit effect from appointed day i.e. 1 February 2003.
Accordingly, the UTI Trustee Company comprises of C Ramachandran, Former Secretary (Expenditure), Ministry of Finance, GoI, M P Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman, SBI, Dr.(Mrs.) Kanta Ahuja, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Rajasthan, I D Agarwal, Chairman, OTCEI, and Pritam Singh, Director, In-charge, IIM, Lucknow
C Ramachandran is the chairman of UTI Trustee Co. (P) Ltd.
UTI Asset Management Co. (P) Ltd. comprises of M Damodaran, Chairman, UTI, S H Bhojani, Partner, Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co. Advocates & Solicitors, J S Mathur, Former Dy. Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and B D Sumitra, DMD and Chief Financial Officer, SBI
