Simmonds Marshall corrects on profit booking

Simmonds Marshall was locked at a lower limit of 5% at Rs 138.90 on the BSE on profit taking after the stock surged 33% in the preceding three trading sessions.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was up 44.62 points, or 0.28% to 15,960.27.

On BSE, 13,472 shares were traded in the counter as against an average daily volume of 2,707 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 153.50 so far during the day, which is a 52-week high for the counter. The stock hit a low of Rs 138.90 so far during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 20.55 on 24 March 2009.

The stock had risen 32.91% in just three trading sessions to Rs 146.20 on 6 February 2010 from a recent low of Rs 110 on 3 February 2010. The stock surged after the company announced that its board will meet on Wednesday, 10 February 2010 to consider a 5-for-1 stock split.

The small-cap stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 6 February 2010, surging 30.54% as compared to the Sensex's 10.09% fall. It had also outperformed the market in the past one quarter, soaring 82.18% as compared to the Sensex's decline of 1.50%.

The company's equity capital is Rs 2.10 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

The current price of Rs 138.90 discounts the company's Q3 December 2009 annualized EPS of Rs 17.33, by a PE multiple of 8.02.

Simmonds Marshall reported net profit of Rs 0.91 crore in Q3 December 2009 compared to net loss of Rs 0.61 crore in Q3 December 2008. Net sales soared 88.8% to Rs 11.76 crore in Q3 December 2009 over Q3 December 2008.

The company manufactures and markets nyloc self-locking nuts. Its products include cap castle & coupling nuts, cleveloc self-locking nut, cold forged automotive components, flange, cage & weld nuts, nyloc self-locking nuts, u-nuts & wheel nuts and bolts.
