Enumerating the advantages of Internet trading, Dhiraj Agrawal, CEO, says, “I can see more advantages as it’s transparent and convenient from the common investors perspective. From the broker’s point of view, they can service a large number of customers without actually increasing their own running cost. India is, by and large, a Lifebuoy country and not Dove country. You have to service large customers with low ticket value per customer, which is possible through Internet-based trading. Through e-trading it’s not difficult to service a customer who is giving you Rs 200 per month. So, using the Internet as a primary delivery channel, a broking firm can now even target to serve over 10,000 customers in 2-3 years, which, by just using the traditional distribution channel, might not be possible.” |
