The Hong Kong stock market finished higher after its first day of post-Christmas trade on Wednesday, 27 December 2017, on the back of strength in shares of energy and mining companies. At close of trade, the Hang Seng index was up 19.65 points or 0.07% at 29,597.66. The Hang Seng China Enterprises index fell 0.3% to 11,617.75. The sub-index of the Hang Seng tracking energy shares rose 1.2% while the IT sector dipped 1.06%, the financial sector was 0.02% lower and property sector rose 1.11%. Turnover increased to HK$82.7 billion from HK$71.8 billion last Friday. The market was closed for Christmas holidays on 25-26 December.
