India's Textile & Apparel Industry Gears Up for Global Leadership Through Sustainability and Digital Transformation

Driven by rising demand, smart manufacturing and government support, India’s textile sector is evolving into a global force focused on innovation, sustainability and circular economy practices.


'Trident Group delivered a presentation that details the market trends of textile and apparel industry.

In 2022, the global textile and apparel trade was USD 909 billion having grown at approximately 3% CAGR since 2017. It is expected to reach USD 1.2 trillion by 2030 growing at a CAGR of 4%.

The Indian domestic T&A market has grown from USD 106 billion in 2019-20 to USD 147 billion in 2024-25, registering a CAGR of 7%. The market needs to grow at 9% CAGR from 2024-25 to reach USD 250 billion by 2030-31 which is the target set by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The Home Textile market size is estimated at USD 141.56 billion in 2025 and is expected to reach USD 185.37 billion by 2030. India accounts for nearly 7% of global home textiles trade with strong export markets in the US and Europe. The adoption of industry 4.0 manufacturing including zero-paper shop floors and digital platforms has enabled smart manufacturing.
