  • Fed, BoE, and BoJ policy decisions to be watched

    Global central banks policy decisions, macroeconomic data, global cues, movement of rupee against the dollar, Brent crude oil price movement and investments by foreign portfolio investors (FPI) and domestic institutional investors (DII) will be watched.

    Wholesale price index inflation for August will be announced on 14 September 2020.

    Among results, Vedanta will declare its April-June quarterly result on 15 September 2020.

    Also, updates related to COVID-19 will be closely watched. Also on the radar will be news on covid vaccine development. From here on the pace of the improvement of economic indicators along with outcomes of a possible vaccine or cure for COVID-19 would determine the movement of the market.

    Total COVID-19 confirmed cases worldwide stood at 2,81,74,590 with 9,09,672 deaths. India reported 9,43,480 active cases of COVID-19 infection and 76,271 deaths while 35,42,663 patients have been discharged, according to the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

    Overseas, three major central bank meetings - Fed, BoE, and BoJ decisions, the election over who will become Japan's next leader and economic data will be closely watched.

    Monday will bring the leadership election of the Liberal Democratic Party to determine who will succeed outgoing Prime Minister Abe.

    China's industrial production data for August will be released on 15 September 2020.

    In US, Retail Sales for August will be announced on 16 September 2020.

    The US Federal Reserve (Fed) will wrap up its policy meeting on 16 September 2020. The Fed is more likely to take the sidelines.

    On 17 September 2020, the spotlight will turn to the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) meeting. No action is expected, though the latest reports suggest the BoJ may offer a slightly brighter view of the economy.

    The Bank of England (BoE) meets on Thursday. Markets will be on the lookout for any signals about the QE program being expanded in November.

    In Europe, the Euro Area ZEW Economic Sentiment Index for September will be announced on 15 September 2020.
