What do diamond market trends reflect in India?

Strong demand trends persist in both natural and lab-grown diamond value pools, fueled by rising affluence, higher ticket sizes and resilient bridal demand globally.


'International Gemmological Institute India disclosed a presentation that discusses the trends in terms of natural diamonds and lab-grown diamonds.

Strong demand and supply trends are present in both natural, lab grown diamond value pools. In terms of natural diamonds, rising affluence and spends drive higher ticket sizes as well as resilient demand from engagement, bridal occasions across geographies. Diamond jewellery penetration remains 8% in India vs 70% in the US, indicating a long runway for growth. There is visibly strong growth in studded jewellery at 7% CAGR indicating shift towards value added jewellery. Omni-channel expansion is carried out across geographies. Rapid showroom rollout and omni-channel strategies accelerating consumer adoption.
