FM announces setting up of a High-Powered “Education to Employment and Enterprise” Standing Committee

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the setting up of a High-Powered “Education to Employment and Enterprise” Standing Committee. The panel will recommend measures to strengthen the services sector as a core driver of India’s growth and global competitiveness.The Finance Minister said the committee will prioritise areas to optimise growth, employment, and exports. It will also assess the impact of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, on jobs and skill requirements, and propose measures to prepare the workforce accordingly. The initiative is aimed at positioning India as a global leader in services, targeting a 10% share of the global services market by 2047.
