Commodities Buzz: Gold net speculative long positions ease to around two-year low

Precious metals speculators continued to trim their net long position in the Gold futures, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Gold futures, traded by large speculators, hedge funds and retailers, totaled a net position of 159915 contracts in the data reported through February 17, 2026, recording a nominal fall of 97 contracts from the previous week. Previous few weeks had also seen heavier declines in net longs which are currently around two-year low.
