Commodities Buzz: US average daily Iron Ore production rises 12% on month in Feb-25


According to a latest update from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the US mine production and shipments of iron ore in February 2025 were estimated to be 3.37 million metric tons (Mt) and 10,000 metric tons (t), respectively. Average daily production of iron ore in February 2025 was approximately 120,000 t, an increase of 12% from 107,000 t in January 2025 and a decrease from approximately 122,000 t in February 2024. Average daily shipments of iron ore were 357 t, a decrease of 99% from 58,700 t in January 2025 and a decrease of 96% from 10,000 t in February 2024. Mine stocks were estimated to be 10.7 Mt at the end of February 2025, an increase of 46% from 7.38 Mt at the end of January 2025 and an increase of 10% from 9.79 Mt at the end of February 2024. U.S. exports of iron ore were 232,000 t in February 2025, a decrease of 46% from 426,000 t in January 2025 and a decrease of 46% from 430,000 t in February 2024.
