Commodities Buzz: US domestic mine production of zinc down 1% in 2024


According to a latest update from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the US domestic mine production (recoverable) of zinc in December 2024 was 68,400 metric tons (t). Mine production (recoverable) in 2024 was 741,000 t compared with 749,000 t (revised) in 2023, down . Average daily (recoverable) mine production in December was 2,210 t, 47% more compared with that in the previous month but 11% less compared with that in December 2023. The monthly average North American premium to the LME cash price in December 2024 was 17.5 cents per pound, an increase compared with 17.4 cents per pound in the previous month and 20% less compared with that in December 2023. The annual average North American premium was 18.3 cents per pound, 41% less than that in 2023. The 2024 annual average North American price was 144.21 cents per pound, 5% less than that in 2023.
