Commodities Buzz: WTI Crude oil net speculative longs see good rise

Energy speculators added to their net long positions in the crude oil futures market after recent spree of deep cuts, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Crude oil futures, traded by large speculators, hedge funds and retailers, totaled a net long position of 58433 contracts in the data reported through week ended December 9, 2025. This was a weekly rise of 7396 net contracts and pushed up net longs further from lowest in nearly a decade.
