Energy Preview: US oil rig count down 22 on year ago level

The US energy firms last week cut the number of oil and natural gas rigs operating for the first time in three weeks, oilfield services company Baker Hughes data showed Friday. The oil rig count in the US decreased by 2 for week ending March 28. The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production, fell to 484 for the week ending March 28. The number of US oil rigs dropped by 22 compared to one year ago. The country's gas rig count rose by one to 103 in the reported week, dropping by nine from the same period in 2024. The total number of rigs in the US stood at 592, dropping by one from the previous week and slipping by 29 from the same period in the previous year.
