Raw Sugar futures slide to one-week low

Global Sugar futures are slipping in tune with steady supplies expectations; Prices are giving up theur recent gains as the NY Raw sugar futures failed to hold around two-month high near 17 cents per pound this week. The counter has drifted lower and currently hover around 16.25 cents per pound- testing one week low. Sugar has been under stress overall and tested four-year low last month amid hopes of elevated supplies. The outlook for higher sugar exports from India is weighing on global sugar prices, as abundant monsoon rains are expected to lead to a bumper sugar crop. India's sugar output seen rising 18 pc to 34.9 million tonnes in 2025-26 amid plentiful monsoon rainfall. India Meteorological Department or IMD stated in a latest update that in September 2025, the country received 193.6 mm of rainfall, which is 15% above the Long Period Average (LPA) of 167.9 mm. The daily rainfall variation across the country during September 2025, along with the normal based on 1971-2020 data.
