WTI crude dips to $63 per barrel, snaps three-day rally

WTI crude oil futures slipped to around $63 per barrel on Thursday, snapping a three-day rally as rising US crude inventories pointed to softer demand. Government data revealed a surprising 3.9 million barrel increase in stockpiles, contrary to expectations of draw, highlighting weakening consumption trends. Meanwhile, geopolitical concerns continued to underpin the market, as tensions escalated after Israel targeted Hamas leadership in Doha and President Trump raised the prospect of tighter sanctions on Russia following a breach of Polish airspace. The US dollar index hovered near 97.54, bolstered by speculation of a 50 basis point Fed rate cut amid softer inflation data, further pressuring dollar-denominated assets including crude. MCX September crude futures were little changed at Rs 5618 per barrel, reflecting a cautious market stance as investors awaited further economic cues.
