Currency Buzz: US Dollar index rises near 100 mark

The US dollar index is staying well supported by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The dollar index, that measures the greenback against a basket of currencies is quoting at 99.93, up 0.42% on the day. Asian and European shares traded lower on Friday and were set for weekly losses as a continued rise in crude prices amid an escalating conflict in the Middle East fueled inflation worries. The US stocks slumped last night with DOW losing 1.6% and testing lowest mark in around three and half months.
