Economic Buzz: BoE holds rates steady as energy shock clouds inflation outlook

The Bank of England kept the Bank Rate unchanged at 3.75% in March 2026, adopting a cautious stance as rising energy and commodity prices add fresh inflationary pressure. While recent data showed inflation at just 0.1% in February, the central bank expects CPI to climb toward 3–3.5% in the coming quarters due to higher fuel and utility costs. Policymakers remain vigilant over potential second-round effects on wages and prices, while noting that slowing economic activity could help contain broader inflation pressures.
