Economic Buzz: Malaysia's Inflation Rate Steady at 2.0% in June 2024

Malaysia's annual inflation rate remained at 2.0% in June 2024, unchanged for the second consecutive month and the highest since August 2023. Food prices rose by 2.0%, while prices for alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and housing also increased. Transport costs rose to 1.2% from 0.9% in May. Core consumer prices, excluding volatile items, increased by 1.9% year-on-year. The monthly CPI rose by 0.2%, following a 0.3% increase in May.
