Trilateral talks: China, Japan, South Korea tackle tariff tensions at ASEAN+3 meet

Amid rising global trade tensions, finance officials from China, Japan, and South Korea met in Malaysia on April 8–9 during the ASEAN+3 Finance and Central Bank Deputies' Meeting. The discussions centered around the economic fallout of U.S. tariffs and their regional implications. China’s central bank, represented by Deputy Governor Xuan Changneng, highlighted the importance of financial market stability and reaffirmed its stance on a “moderately loose” monetary policy to aid recovery. The three nations also explored broader economic challenges and pledged deeper regional cooperation to strengthen economic resilience.
