Base Metals Preview: COMEX copper jumps to four month high


COMEX copper futures jumped to a four month high on Monday morning in Asia tracking positive cues from equities and sustained weakness in greenback overseas. On Friday, the major averages ended the day just off their highs of the session. The Dow climbed 289.30 points or 0.6 percent to 47,716.42, the Nasdaq advanced 151.00 points or 0.7 percent to 23,365.69 and the S&P 500 rose 36.48 points or 0.5 percent to 6,849.09. For the holiday-interrupted week, the Nasdaq spiked by 4.9 percent, the S&P 500 surged by 3.7 percent and the Dow jumped by 3.2 percent. The red metal is currently quoting at $5.31 per pound, up nearly 1%. Last week, the counter gained nearly 3% and for the month of November was up almost 2%. On the MCX, copper futures were trading higher around Rs 1023 per kg.
