Agri Buzz: Rabi area spikes around 27%, wheat acreage sees sharp spurt

The area sown under rabi crops across India hit 13.03 million hectares as of 7th November, up around 27% on year, according to the data from the agriculture ministry. The acreage under wheat, the major rabi crop, was at 22.72 lakh hectares, spiking 128% on year. Acreage of paddy was 618,000 hectares, up 8.2% on year. Pulses area also surged 21% to 36.83 lakh hectares. Oilseeds area stood at 54.46 lakh hectares, up 15% on year.
