Copper sees choppy moves as markets keep focus on China data


COMEX Copper futures saw choppy moves, holding just above $5.50 per pound as the metal eyed equities and economic cues from China. In Asia, Chinese Shanghai Composite index eased 0.42% on the day. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index jumped 1.60%. Japanese NIKEEI added 0.55% after testing near three-week low in last session. European stocks stayed supported. UK’s FTSE 100 share index soared to 9000 points for the first time. The US stocks saw a mixed outing yesterday as the Dow marginally. Meanwhile, China’s gross domestic product rose by 5.2% in the second quarter, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics today. This marked a slowdown from the 5.4% in the first quarter. In another data, China's value-added industrial output rose 6.8% year on year in June, accelerating from 5.8% in previous month.
