Copper sees modest gains amid mixed equities

COMEX Copper futures edged up today and currently trade at $4.42 per pound, up 0.60% on the day. Equities saw mixed moves but Copper is holding onto after heavy losses last week. In Asia today, China's Shanghai Composite index eased 0.12%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost 0.89%. Japan’s Nikkei average spiked 1.85% on supportive earnings. The broader Topix index settled 1.21 percent higher at 3,024.21, rising above the key psychological mark of 3,000 points for the first time. European stocks eased a bit. German stocks are in red after four successive days of gains. The Dow closed down about 224 points, or 0.5%, while the S&P 500 ended the session off 0.08% on Thursday. However, the Nasdaq Composite added nearly 0.4%.
