Copper zooms on China effect, futures spike 2%

COMEX Copper soared today with the market pushing higher following a break above $5 per pound. Sentiment was upbeat as Chinese traders returned from the long holiday break, reacting to fresh signs of supply disruptions globally. The metal has zoomed nearly 2% to more than two-month high and currently trades at $5.20 per pound, up 2.10% on the day. Meanwhile, in Asia, China's Shanghai Composite index raced up 1.30% while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.29%. Japan’s Nikkei soared 1.77% on firm cues from tech stocks. European stocks saw modest gains. The US stocks edged up in last session with Nasdaq and the S&P 500 hitting record closing highs.
