India is likely to attract over $200 billion in artificial intelligence investments over the next two years, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while addressing the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. He noted strong nationwide participation in the summit and said India aims to build global consensus on the responsible and beneficial use of AI.
The minister emphasised that challenges in the AI ecosystem require a balanced techno-legal approach rather than regulation alone. He added that the government is prioritising reskilling and upskilling to prepare the workforce for emerging technologies. He also said India is being positioned as a global hub for semiconductor design, which will be the next key focus of the country’s semiconductor mission.
