Power Grid Corporation emerges as successful bidder for transmission project in Karnataka

Power Grid Corporation of India said that it has secured a transmission project under the tariff-based competitive bidding route for strengthening the Tumkur-II node to enable integration of 2.7 GW of additional renewable energy capacity.


The company had received the letter of intent for this project on 01 April 2026. The project will be executed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.

The scope includes setting up a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line along with augmentation of infrastructure at the Tumkur-II pooling station in Karnataka, including interconnecting transformers and associated bays.

The Power Grid Corporation of India is a Maharatna CPSU and India’s largest electric power transmission company.

The company had reported an 8.4% YoY rise in consolidated net profit to Rs 4,184.96 crore in Q3 FY26, compared with Rs 3,861.63 crore in Q3 FY25. Revenue from operations rose 10.3% YoY to Rs 12,395.09 crore in the quarter ended 31 December 2025.

The scrip slipped 2.34% to currently trade at Rs 286 on the BSE.
