Power stocks edge higher

Power stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Power index increasing 39.61 points or 0.69% at 5789.69 at 09:48 IST.


Among the components of the S&P BSE Power index, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 2.66%), Suzlon Energy Ltd (up 2.27%),NTPC Ltd (up 1.26%),Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (up 0.73%),Siemens Ltd (up 0.68%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were CG Power & Industrial Solutions Ltd (up 0.67%), NHPC Ltd (up 0.41%), Tata Power Company Ltd (up 0.29%), and ABB India Ltd (up 0.03%).

On the other hand, JSW Energy Ltd (down 0.4%), Adani Power Ltd (down 0.32%), and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (down 0.15%) turned lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 364.71 or 0.51% at 72403.14.

The Nifty 50 index was up 85.05 points or 0.39% at 21739.8.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 163.74 points or 0.39% at 42450.65.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 44.81 points or 0.36% at 12544.78.

On BSE,1956 shares were trading in green, 1096 were trading in red and 115 were unchanged.
