Copper slips marginally

COMEX Copper futures eased a bit in an overall tight price action as equities offered mixed cues. In a key update for the metal, China kept benchmark lending rates unchanged for the fourth consecutive month in September. The one-year loan prime rate (LPR) was kept at 3.0 per cent on Monday, while the five-year LPR was unchanged at 3.5%. COMEX Copper futures are currently quoting at $4.63 per pound, down marginally on the day. Meanwhile, in Asia, China's Shanghai Composite index eased 0.18%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.70%. Japan’s market was closed for a public holiday. European stocks saw modest gains. The US stocks moved mostly higher over the course of the trading session on Monday. While the tech-heavy Nasdaq led the charge, the major averages all reached new record closing highs.
