Copper soars more than 2% as break above $6 per pound extends

COMEX Copper futures are edging higher today after the break above $6 per pound stayed in place. The metal is up 2.10% at $6.13 per pound and has soared around 3.50% this month. The current levels are highest in last four-weeks. Meanwhile, in Asia today, China's Shanghai Composite index added 0.39%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index surged 0.95% while Japan’s Nikkei average edged up 0.16% to hit another record high. European stocks moved up modestly. The US stocks ended mixed yesterday as tech-heavy Nasdaq fell 1.20% although the Dow managed to end the day slightly higher.
