Bottomline impacted by high provisions and elevated slippages


'Axis Bank has reported 4% decline in net profit at Rs 5806.14 crore for the quarter ended June 2025 (Q1FY2026). The bottomline of the bank was impacted due to higher provisions driven by high NPAs on change in NPA recognition policy relating to cash credit/overdraft (CC/OD) facility and one-time settlement accounts.

The bank has posted moderate 1% growth in net interest income (NII), while the core fee income of the bank improved 10% in Q1FY2026. The Net Interest Margin (NIM) of the bank eased to 3.97% in Q1FY2026 compared to 4.05% in the corresponding quarter of previous year.

On business front, the bank as has posted 9% growth in business with 8% rise in loan book. The asset quality of the bank witnessed deterioration due to jump in fresh slippages of loans in Q1FY2026. Bank has reduced the credit to deposit ratio to 91.2% at end June 2025 from 92.2% at end June 2024. The CASA ratio of the bank has declined to 40.3% at end June 2025 from 41.8% at end June ...
