Hindustan Zinc

Silver contributing 40% to profits


'Net sales (including other operating income) of Hindustan Zinc has increased 3.60% to Rs 8549 crore.  Sales of Zinc,Leadand Silver segment has gone up 3.55% to Rs 8,235.00 crore (accounting for 99.43% of total sales).  Sales of Wind Energy segment has gone down 7.84% to Rs 47.00 crore (accounting for 0.57% of total sales). 

The company clocked the 5-year lowest 2Q Zinc COP, which stood at US$ 994 per tonne, better sequentially driven by softened input commodity prices and higher by-product realisations.

Profit before interest, tax and other unallocable items (PBIT) has jumped 9.04% to Rs 3,630.00 crore.  PBIT of Zinc,Leadand Silver segment rose 9.25% to Rs 3,602.00 crore (accounting for 99.23% of total PBIT).  PBIT of Wind Energy segment fell 12.50% to Rs 28.00 crore (accounting for 0.77% of total PBIT).
