Dear Stakeholders,
Every privilege carries with it the weight of purpose.
As I take on the role of Chairman of Berger Paints, I am deeply aware of the
responsibility that comes with leading a Company steeped in a legacy that spans over a
century. It is a legacy built not just on business success, but on a commitment to
quality, innovation, and a relentless focus on our customers.
I extend my sincere gratitude to Mr Kuldip Singh Dhingra and Mr Gurbachan Singh Dhingra
for their invaluable contributions to the growth of our Company. Their wisdom and vision
have been instrumental in shaping Berger Paints into a formidable force, both nationally
and globally. It is a privilege to build upon their legacy as we chart the path ahead.

exercise but a continuous endeavour grounded in research, innovation, and execution. Our
deep dives into understanding customer needs, supported by robust market research and
insights, have consistently helped us develop high-quality, value-driven solutions. Every
offering we take to the market is backed by intensive R&D, quality control, and
long-term investments in our people, processes, and partnerships.
Our products reflect not just craftsmanship, but care-solutions that deliver
consistently on performance, reliability and aesthetics. But it is not just about what we
offer, it is also about how we deliver it, with tailor-made services, responsive systems,
and a customer-first approach at every touchpoint.
The result is that we have been steadily maintaining our position among the top two
paint companies in India, fourth-largest paint company in Asia and seventh-largest
decorative paint company in the world. We are also the second-largest player in the
decorative paints business in India.
The journey of innovation and customer-centricity
Our growth truly began when we embedded innovation into our DNA.
In the mid-90s, we introduced the pioneering Colorbank system, transforming customer
choice with virtually unlimited shades. We did not stop there. In the early 2000s, we
launched Easy Clean and WeatherCoat Anti Dustt, both rooted in genuine consumer insights
and needs. In 2015, we redefined the painting experience altogether with our Express
Painting service, which brought speed, cleanliness, and professionalism to a highly
unorganised sector.
We continue to innovate with products like Roof Kool & Seal, Tank Kool, and Berger
WeatherCoat Anti Dustt Kool launched last year. These are solutions designed to address
challenges unique to the Indian climate and built environment. These products go beyond
aesthetics; they deliver functional benefits like temperature reduction, water-proofing,
and dust resistance.
In the decorative segment, our innovative product portfolio is designed to elevate
every space with unmatched aesthetics while ensuring effortless maintenance.
From luxurious interior finishes that enhance the beauty and character of walls, to
advanced formulations that simplify upkeep, our solutions cater to the evolving tastes and
lifestyles of modern consumers. Our exterior paint range is equally advancedcrafted
to not only enhance curb appeal but also shield walls from the harsh effects of dust,
heat, and rain. With long-lasting protection and vibrant finishes, our products help
preserve the beauty of homes and buildings for years.
We are constantly developing new solutions and enhancing existing ones. From wall art
and anti-dust paints to elastomeric coatings that seal cracks and cooling paints that
reduce indoor temperature, our portfolio is rich in consumer-centric innovation.
In the Auto, General Industrial and Powder Coatings categories, we have introduced
new-generation CED coatings (tin-free), Direct-to-Metal solutions, Monocoat systems for
2W/EV OEMs, and soft-feel powder coatings for decorative applications. These offerings
elevate the customer experience while meeting stringent ndustrial standards.
In Protective Coatings, we are the market leaders in India and our innovations include
wet surface epoxy coatings, solventless strong chemical resistant tank wash, and thermo-
ndicative paints. Internationally, our UK operations recently launched a building
insulation and renovation system to reduce heating costs and labour dependency, aligned
with the country's energy-efficiency goals. We take pride in the fact that our innovations
are often emulated, and we see that as a motivation to stay ahead.
Every such product launch reaffirms a simple truth: that real, lasting innovation
begins by listening to the customer. Our ability to consistently put the customer at the
centre of our innovation cycle has helped us emerge as a leader in the domestic paint and
coatings industry.
Staying resilient in a competitive landscape
We have always believed that competition is a necessary catalyst, it pushes the
industry to evolve, become more efficient, and better serve customers. For us, however,
growth has never been about shortcuts or short-term gains. We have never chased market
share with unsustainable discounts or gimmicks. Our focus has always been on longterm
value creation, building structures of confidence, systems of reliability, and a
reputation grounded in integrity.
Over the years, we have built capabilities that many others have followedlike our
early investments in tinting machines or launching the home painting service called
Express Painting. But more than being first, we have been focused on being right, making
thoughtful decisions, upholding core values, and consistently delivering on our promises.
Our suppliers know we are dependable; our customers know we are responsive. This ecosystem
of trust and continuity, combined with technology and innovation, has been the cornerstone
of our journey.
Strategic priorities moving forward
Our strategic focus remains clear: to stay closely aligned with our customers' evolving
needs, and to ensure our teams are fully equipped, empowered, and motivated to meet those
needs with speed, agility, and excellence. At every step of the value chain, we are
working to enhance stakeholder value, whether through better processes, better products,
or better service.
Technology plays a pivotal role here. Pragmatic innovation in form, function, and
process is a Berger hallmark; something we continuously strive to build upon. It's this
spirit of continuous improvement that sets us apart and enables us to deliver sustained
performance.
The competitive landscape has intensified in recent years with the entry of new players
backed by significant financial resources. Yet, Berger Paints stands resilient and
confident, anchored by its expansive nationwide presence, enduring relationship with
channel partners and the influencer community, and the unwavering trust of customers built
over a century. These foundational strengths give us a distinct advantage and position us
well to not only withstand market challenges, but to further consolidate and enhance our
leadership in the industry.
Key growth initiatives
FY 2024-25 saw us expand our offerings in Construction Chemicals and Wood Coatings, and
many of these products are set to scale significantly in the coming years. We are also
re-examining opportunities in our traditional core segments, where we see untapped
potential for value enhancement.
In addition, we are overhauling our CRM and customer service operations to match the
scale and complexity of our expanding business. Improving turn-around-time (TAT),
digitising customer interfaces, and building scalable systems are key to this
transformation.
Sustainability at the core
Sustainability is not an obligation at Berger Paints - it is a core part of our
identity.
We believe that responsible business and smart business are not mutually exclusive. Our
energy conservation measures, from solar power installations and energy-efficient
machinery to emission control and water recycling, are designed to reduce our carbon
footprint while improving operational efficiency.
Hundreds of such initiatives run simultaneously across our operations, and a central
committee actively monitors their implementation and progress. From reusing billets in
reactors to recycling containers and reducing dependency on virgin resources, we are
taking tangible, practical steps to become a low- impact company.
Our commitment extends to people as well. Berger iTrain, our flagship skill development
program launched in 2014, has trained thousands of painters in modern techniques of
painting, polishing, and waterproofing. This initiative promotes sustainable livelihoods
and also supports the national Skill India Mission by building a future-ready, employable
workforce.
We also invest in our local environments, supporting the communities around our
factories and creating green, liveable surroundings. As a company that deals in colour,
aesthetics, and protection we see sustainability as a natural extension of our
purpose: to make the environment better.
